Laboratory Assignments
Experiment 17: Base Bias
  • Download the Up-down Analyzer for Exp 17. (Note: this program is the same as the Up-down Analyzer of Chap. 6 in the Text programs.)
  • Start the Launcher. Then, go to the Lab Menu and select Exp 17.
  • Use the Up-down Analyzer to solve the following problems.
  • Remember to click the HOME button before starting each problem.
    • Problem 1: What does IC equal when the dc beta is 50? When it equals 125?
    • Problem 2: What does VCE equal when the dc beta is 75?
    • Problem 3: If RC is changed to 10 ohms, what VCE equal? If RC is changed to 10 kohms, what does VCE equal?
    • Problem 4: Design a circuit that meets these specifications: VBB = 18 V, VCC = 18 V, BE = 200, VBE = 0.7 V, RC = 1 kohms, and VCE = 9 V. What is the value of RB? What are the values of IB and IC?
Experiment 18: Emitter Bias
  • Download the Up-down Analyzer for Exp 18. (Note: this program is the same as the Up-down Analyzer of Chap. 6 in the Text programs.)
  • Start the Launcher. Then, go to the Lab Menu and select Exp 18.
  • Use the Up-down Analyzer to solve the following problems.
  • Remember to click the HOME button before starting each problem.
    • Problem 1: What does IC equal when RE equals 270 ohms?
    • Problem 2: What does VCE equal when the RE is changed to 220 ohms?
    • Problem 3: If RC is changed to 1 kohm, what VCE equal?
    • Problem 4: Design a circuit that meets these specifications: VBB = 1.8 V, VCC = 10 V, BE = 200, VBE = 0.7 V, RC = 1 kohms, and VC = 9 V. What is the value of RE? What are the values of IB and IC?
Experiment 19: Setting Up a Stable Q-Point
  • Download the T-shooter for Exp 19 if you have not already done so. (Note: this program is the same as the T-shooter of Chap. 8 in the Text programs.)
  • Start the Launcher. Then, go to the Lab Menu and select Exp 19.
  • Take the troubleshooting test.
  • Repeat the test until your score equals or exceeds the Expert score.
Experiment 20: PNP Voltage-Divider Bias
  • Download the Up-down Analyzer for Exp 20.
  • Start the Launcher. Then, go to the Lab Menu and select Exp 20.
  • Use the Up-down Analyzer to solve the following problems.
  • Remember to click the HOME button before starting each problem.
    • Problem 1: What does IE equal when RE is changed to 2.2 kohm?
    • Problem 2: What does VB equal when the dc beta is 75?
    • Problem 3: What are the minimum and maximum values of VC when the dc beta is varied from 100 to 400?
    • Problem 4: Design a circuit that meets these specifications: VCC = 20 V, VBE = 0.7 V, VE = 2 V, VC = 11 V, and IC = 10 mA. What are the values of RE and RC.
Experiment 21: Transistor Bias
  • Download the Up-down Analyzer for Exp 21.
